Adult Aquatics

Parent-Toddler Class ... This class is a water adjustment class for children. The sooner your child starts enjoying the water the sooner he/she learns how to swim. Water adjustment classes should start after the child is six months old.

 Preschool - 3 to 5 years oldThis program is more focused on water adjustment. In addition to helping children orient to a water environment the program is working toward preparing children with some elementary swimming skills.

Pike ... Child’s first experience in the learning of proper swim strokes. Must be able to swim 1/2 width of pool to pass.

Eels ... Child is willing to put face in water and able to swim 1 width of pool and begins learning rescue & safety.

Rays... Child willing to swim in deep water and able to swim 1 length of the pool. They have a knowledge of safety.

Starfish... This little fish can swim lengths in the pool and will work on learning new strokes. 

Youth 6 years old & upThe purpose of the youth swim lesson program is to help participants lay a good foundation of basic aquatic skills. We hope this leads to a lifelong appreciation for aquatic activities which also include lifeguarding & aquatic sports.

Polliwog I... Child’s first experience in the learning of proper swim strokes. Must be able to swim 1 width of pool to pass.

Polliwog II... Child is willing to put face in water and is able to swim length of pool and begin to understand rescue & safety.

Guppy ... Child willing to swim in deep water and able to swim 2 lengths of the pool. Child becomes safety conscious.

Minnow... Child can swim the back, front, side crawl one length each with rudimentary breathing techniques. Begins diving & breast stroke.

Fish… Child is proficient in proper breath- ing techniques and swims 60-100 yds. without stopping. Learns but- terfly.

Shark... Child is able to swim 40 yds. front, back, side, breast, butterfly and elementary back strokes.

Porpoise… This class will perfect all swimming strokes & flipturns.

Aquatic Safety CourseConsists of 4-6 hours of classroom & water sessions & includes personal aquatic safety information, accident prevention, and basic First Aid/Rescue Breathing. 

Aquatic Personal Safety/Survival Course An 8 hour course to train participants in personal safety and survival skills in and around aquatic environments. 

YMCA Aquatic Safety Assistant Course (YMCA Certification Course, minimum age: 14) YASA is a 16 hour course that teaches knowledge and skills an individual needs to recognize and prevent aquatic risks and to assist a lifeguard. 

Lifeguard Training (YMCA or American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certification Course) These courses cover the skills and knowledge required for effective lifeguarding at swimming pools and at non-surf, open-water beaches. Minimum age is 16 for certification.

Adult Aquatics

T.O.W. & Adult Lessons ... Terrified of Water? For the fearful, non-swimming adult. Expert, patient instruction is provided with an emphasis on adjustment to the water and on learning the basics correctly. Also instruction for the adult who would like to learn the proper swimming strokes. Sign up now to start enjoying this great exercise. 

Aquacise ... An adult exercise program conducted in the water that uses water resistance to improve muscle tone, flexibility, aerobic capacity and muscular strength. It also helps decrease pain and stiffness from arthritis. You do not need to know how to swim to enjoy this exercise. 

SCUBA Lessons ... We teach recreational scuba diving for a lifetime of pleasure diving. Our instructors have PADI certifications. Open Water, Advanced, and Night Diving are taught.
